Lahore Railway Station has undergone major upgrades designed to make train travel more comfortable, accessible, and passenger-friendly. The changes arrived after receiving the instructions of Federal Railways Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, who emphasized improving both the efficiency and convenience of the historic station.
At the heart of these improvements is a new Commercially Important Persons (CIP) lounge, created especially for business and premium travelers. With seating for 70 people, the lounge is offering a quieter and more comfortable space for those who value privacy and efficiency while traveling.
Combined seating capacity of 250 passengers
For the general public, two brand-new air-conditioned anticipating areas have been introduced with a combined seating capacity of 250 passengers. In order to promote an inclusive environment, the halls have been divided into dedicated spaces: 100 seats for families, 70 for women, and 80 for men.
Along with bringing comfort, this segregation is meant to guarantee that women and families can wait in a secure and relaxed setting.

Installing of four new escalators
The major focus is highly upon flexibility. Four new escalators have been installed at Platforms 2 and 4, making it easier for the elderly, women, and those carrying heavy luggage to move around the busy station.
Alongside, water coolers have been set up on these platforms to guarantee a steady supply of clean drinking water—a small but it is considered to be a vital facility, especially during summer.
Addition of 6 fiber-based stalls
Six fiber-based stalls have been added, and it is all done to give a modern touch to the commercial side, offering passengers better shopping and refreshment options.
The main porch area has been changed into a dedicated family waiting zone, equipped with three air conditioners, upgraded washrooms and a large LED screen for entertainment and announcements.
A new ATM in collaboration with Habib Bank has been installed, which is meant to allow travelers easy access to cash on the go. SMD display screens are there in the porch area, providing real-time updates on train arrivals and departures.
Major changes to come after these upgrades
These upgrades are meant to bring the best changes in the way Pakistan Railways is approaching public service, which is focusing on comfort, dignity, and efficiency.
