Solar prices fall sharply in Pakistan — save up to Rs 150,000 on 5–15kW systems

Pakistan’s solar market has witnessed a remarkable shift as system prices fall significantly across the country. For households planning to escape soaring electricity bills before next summer, this decline has created one of the most favorable buying moments in recent years.

Why Are Solar Prices Falling?

With the onset of winter, energy demand naturally dips across the country. As a result, market activity slows down, and solar vendors reduce prices to maintain sales. This seasonal decline, combined with recent government relief measures, has pushed prices downward more sharply than expected.

Economic pressures, improved supply chains, and competitive market behavior have also played their part in minimizing import and installation costs.

New Price Breakdown for Solar Systems

Market surveys from major cities reveal a notable drop of up to Rs. 150,000 on popular residential solar setups.

5kW System – Now at Rs. 550,000

A complete 5kW installation—including panels, inverter, wiring, and essential accessories—now costs around Rs. 550,000. This package is suitable for small to medium households and can comfortably support fans, lights, a refrigerator, and other basic appliances.

7kW System – Rs. 625,000 (Effective December 2025)

A 7kW setup is now priced at Rs. 625,000, making it one of the most value-packed options. It can run:

• Two 1.5-ton inverter ACs

• Refrigerator

• Lights and fans

• Washing machine

This capacity is ideal for families seeking partial independence from the grid.

10kW & 15kW Systems – Big Savings for Large Homes

Larger systems have also seen major cuts:

• 10kW system: Rs. 900,000

• 15kW system: Rs. 1.3 million

These setups easily support multiple air conditioners, deep freezers, kitchen appliances, and small commercial operations. For spacious homes or home-based businesses, this is a cost-effective long-term investment.

Government Relief Fuels Affordability

A major catalyst behind the price drop is the recent decision by President Asif Ali Zardari to temporarily suspend the 16% General Sales Tax (GST) on solar consumers. He also instructed the Federal Tax Ombudsman to reassess the matter, signaling further potential relief.

Combined with already falling market prices, this tax suspension has lowered the financial barriers for thousands of potential buyers.

A Perfect Opportunity for Consumers

Industry experts say that this is the best time in years to embrace the solar energy. With winter lowering demand, government policies easing costs, and vendors offering competitive rates, consumers can secure long-term energy independence at a significantly reduced price.

For households tired of staggering electricity bills, this moment presents both savings and a sustainable future.
