Solar Power now Pakistan’s Third-Largest Source of Energy

Solar power provided over 14 percent of Pakistan’s total energy in 2024—a pointy rise from just 4 percent in 2021—making it the country’s third-largest source of power, ahead of coal. This was revealed at a seminar to mark Pakistan’s developing use of green energy. 

Speakers said Pakistan had emerged as the sixth-biggest solar market in the world because of its fast shift toward renewable energy. The boom had come despite strength and financial challenges and confirmed Pakistan’s growing role in the global clean energy movement. 

Emerging Solar Power Country

Throughout the event, speakers also shared a report through IPR each day that ranked Trinasolar number one in the world for patents related to perovskite solar cell technology. The employer has filed 481 international patents in this field, making it the enterprise leader in the next big phase of solar research.

Perovskite solar cells are considered the future of solar power. They have the potential to supply more energy at a lower cost than the current silicon-based panels. Those new cells could attain up to 43 percent efficiency in lab conditions, although they are not yet ready for sale in markets. Still, Trinasolar’s work in this location is seen as a first-rate step towards extra efficient and cheaper solar power within the future. 

The company has also been a pioneer in TOPCon solar cell technology, any other superior approach is already in commercial use. Trinasolar is ranked 2nd globally for patents in universal solar modules and TOPCon technology. It works with well-known universities like Fudan University in China and holds exclusive licenses from Oxford PV in the United Kingdom and Nanyang Technological College in Singapore. 

Trinasolar Chairman Gao Jifan said the corporation might keep investing in research and assist in conveying perovskite-silicon tandem technologies to the market faster. “We are able to maintain support for the worldwide energy transition with higher solar improvements,” he stated. 

In Pakistan, Trinasolar is increasing via new partnerships, signed currently at the sun Pakistan 2025 event. The country plans to install over 10,000 megawatts of solar ability by 2030. Falling solar panel charges have made technology more affordable, but experts warned that excellent durability and long-term savings must not be ignored.
