The Sindh government has officially launched Phase II of the People’s IT Programme (PITP) — a transformative initiative aimed at equipping young people with the latest digital skills to compete in the global tech landscape.
Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, while announcing the Rs 1.4 billion programme, said that the initiative has already begun reshaping the digital future of the province. “We’re not just investing in infrastructure; we’re investing in minds — in dreams,” he remarked.
A Growing Digital Movement
The first phase of the PITP trained over 13,565 students in advanced fields such as
- Software development
- Cloud computing
- Data analytics
- Digital marketing
As a token of appreciation for excellence, 300 top-performing students received laptops and Google Chromebooks, helping them kickstart careers and freelance ventures from home.
The success of the initial phase has now laid the groundwork for Phase II, which plans to train 35,000 students across 12 high-demand IT domains — from artificial intelligence and blockchain to cybersecurity and mobile app development.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” says Ali Raza, a 24-year-old graduate from Sukkur who now freelances as a web developer after attending PITP’s first batch. “Before this, I couldn’t even dream of working with international clients. Now, I earn in dollars from my home.”

Inclusive, Accessible, and Industry-Aligned
The program is specifically meant to reach youth belonging from underserved communities, including non-ICT graduates with basic computer knowledge. Delivered by a combination of industry veterans and university faculty, the curriculum also emphasizes
- Soft skills
- Communication
- Project-based learning, helping students prepare for the real-world job market
The Sindh Information, Science & Technology Department has been central in rolling out related Human Capital Development Programmes, targeting the growing skills gap in Pakistan’s tech industry.
Beyond Training: Transforming Futures
The PITP is not just a training initiative — it’s a catalyst for socio-economic uplift. With Pakistan’s IT exports growing steadily, Sindh’s initiative are promising to plug thousands of skilled professionals into this rising tide.
By turning laptops into launchpads and training sessions into turning points, the People’s IT Programme is shaping not just careers — but it is changing whole futures.
