Good news for commuters and long-distance travelers: the Lahore Ring Road Authority (LRRA) has announced plans to build six state-of-the-art rest areas along the busy Ring Road. The initiative is aimed at making journeys more comfortable and safer for the thousands of people who prefer to use this vital road network daily.
According to officials, these rest areas will be established at prime locations, including Adda Plot, Halloki, Kamahan, Mehmood Booti, and a site opposite the airport. Each location will cover between 4.5 to 5 kanals and will be developed into modern service hubs.
Facilities provided by the modern service hubs
The facilities will include petrol pumps, tuck shops, clean restrooms, food outlets and mosques, ensuring that travelers have easy access to all essential services during their journeys. This is particularly welcome news for families and commercial drivers who often encounter difficulties in finding
- Safe
- Hygienic
- Well-equipped stops along the route
The Ring Road Authority has already finalized the draft lease agreements and estimated the expected revenues. The sites will soon be offered on lease to financially strong individuals and companies, ensuring sustainable development and proper maintenance of the facilities.

Projects generation capacity is Rs 200 million on yearly basis
Officials estimate that the project could generate over Rs. 200 million on yearly basis once the rest areas are operational. These funds will not only support the maintenance of the Lahore Ring Road but also contribute to future infrastructure upgrades.
Travelers have long demanded such facilities, noting the lack of proper rest stops on the route. With Lahore being a hub of trade and travel, the move is anticipated to create a huge impact.
For the drivers, especially those transporting goods between Punjab’s industrial cities, the availability of fuel, food, and rest facilities in one place is expecting to improve efficiency and safety.
Families, too, will benefit from having reliable stops where children and elderly members can rest and freshen up during long drives. The inclusion of mosques further depicts sensitivity to cultural and religious requirements.
Boosting of economic activity and creation of jobs
The LRRA has assured that construction and leasing will be done transparently, with strict checks on quality standards. Authorities keep on believing these rest areas will not only ease travel but also boost economic activity, creating jobs and encouraging small businesses to operate within the service hubs.
With work on lease agreements in its final stages, commuters can expect to see development begin soon, marking a major step toward making Lahore’s Ring Road a truly world-class travel corridor.
