The Capital Development Authority has declared two major projects to delight the food lovers: the modernization of the iconic Melody Food Street and the development of the latest food street in Blue Area. These upgrades aim to boost recreational spaces, improve public dining experiences, and support the city’s growing culinary culture.
The announcement was made during a high-level meeting held at the CDA Headquarters on Monday. The session was chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, with the major senior officials and board members in attendance.
The primary focus was on
- Improving urban infrastructure
- Food quality
Public convenience across the capital city
Chairman Randhawa emphasized that Melody Food Street—long a favorite hangout for families, students, and tourists—deserves a facelift. “This street is a cultural and culinary landmark,” Randhawa said. “We want to guarantee people enjoy high-quality food in a safe, well-lit, and welcoming environment.”

The plan for Melody includes modern lighting, designated parking areas, and improved cleanliness standards. Importantly, the Islamabad Food Authority is likely to collaborate with CDA to
- Enforce stricter hygiene inspections
- Ensuring food safety and quality for all vendors and visitors
Besides this revamp, a new food street is being planned in Blue Area, the city’s business and commercial hub. This project is designed basically to combine Islamabad’s urban elegance with its vibrant food scene. The upcoming food zone will feature aesthetic landscaping, ambient lighting, and ample parking space to accommodate the expected high footfall.
Both initiatives are assumed to be the part of a broader CDA strategy to improve quality of life, promote local business, and turn Islamabad into a more people-friendly city. The upgrades are also anticipated to enhance tourism and provide safe recreational outlets for residents.
Islamabad is set to become not just a green and peaceful capital—but also a thriving center for food lovers seeking memorable dining experiences in winsome and well-managed public spaces.
