The long drive to Murree may soon be transformed and substituted by a cleaner, faster, and far more scenic option: the Murree Glass Train. The Punjab Masstransit Authority (PMA) has shared the first official details of this upcoming eco-friendly electric monorail, designed to make travel between Islamabad and Murree smoother and more pleasurable for locals and tourists alike.

A Scenic 40-Minute Journey Via the Hills

As per the PMA, the Murree Glass Train will initiate its journey from Lake View Park in Islamabad and end near the Murree bus stand, covering the route in just 40 minutes. For many travelers used to traffic jams and long queues on the winding Murree Road, this promises a far more predictable and stress-free experience.

The train will make stops at four stations along the way:

1. Lake View Park (Islamabad) which is starting point

2. Chattar Park – A mid-route recreational stop

3. Ghora Gali – Nestled in the hills, popular with tourists

4. Murree Bus Stand (near final station) – Convenient access to the main town

Each stop will not only serve as a boarding point but also as a mini-attraction, encouraging people to explore different parts of the route.

Affordable Fares with Standard and Premium Options

To cater to different types of passengers, PMA has declared two fare categories:

• Standard Class: Rs. 500

• Premium Class: Rs. 1,000

Standard class is expected to offer comfortable seating and great views, while premium class will likely include

  • Extra comfort
  • Better seating
  • Possibly priority boarding—ideal for families, tourists, and those discovering for a more relaxed trip.

Eco-Friendly Travel With Glass-Panorama Views

What truly sets the Murree Glass Train apart is its glass-walled design and electric monorail system. Running on electricity, the train will minimize

  • Vehicle emissions
  • Cut down on road congestion
  • Provide a quieter and cleaner alternative to buses and private cars

The glass walls are going to permit the passengers to enjoy panoramic views of the Margalla Hills, forests, and valleys, turning the journey itself into a tourist experience. Instead of being stuck in traffic, travelers will glide above roads, soaking in the scenery in comfort.

PMA has said that further details, including the launch date and schedule, will be announced soon. For now, the Murree Glass Train is already creating excitement as a symbol of modern, sustainable, and tourist-friendly transport—one that could completely change or transform how people travel to Pakistan’s most famous hill station.
