Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz introduced the first batch of electric buses in Lahore, denoting the launch of Pakistan’s first completely electric public transport service. The buses will work on the city’s longest route, giving a modern and environmentally friendly commuting choice.
Buses are equipped with GPS tracking, Wi-Fi, USB ports, and availability features for differently abled passengers, including slopes and designated seating. Each bus can accommodate up to 80 passengers, with 30 seats available.
A sum of 27 electric transports will work on a 21-km course from the Railway Station to Green Town, covering Queens Road, Mozang, Ferozepur Street, Campus Bridge, and Ichhra Canal.
The help is supposed to ship 17,000 passengers daily, with an official public launch set for mid-February. Buses will arrive every nine minutes, and 42 modern bus shelters will be set up along the route.

A special application will also be introduced for the electric bus to enable bus tracking. The fare of electric transport can be paid through digital wallets and digital cards. Universal transport cards will also be given. Special training of 70 drivers for electric transport has begun.
Meanwhile, CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, while managing a meeting to review the e-taxi project coordinated to review the installation of solar fans and water coolers at bus stands, ordered the installation of safe city cameras at each transport stand too. She directed a review of the prospects of assembling e-taxis in Punjab alongside undertaking moves to establish electric charging stations in collaboration with the private sector.
