Pakistan shines in Times Higher Education Asia Rankings 2025 with 47 unis recognized

Pakistan has made a remarkable leap in the world of higher education. According to the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2025, 47 universities from Pakistan have earned their place among Asia’s top academic institutions. It is considered to be a proud moment for students, educators, and the nation as a whole. 

A Big Win for Pakistan’s Higher Education 

The new rankings reveal a steady rise in the quality of education and research in Pakistani universities. From just 16 universities ranked in 2021, Pakistan has now reached 47 in 2025 — a massive 17.5% increase compared to last year’s 40 institutions. 

Top-Performing Pakistani Universities 

Among the 47 ranked, some universities have made exceptional progress: 

• Quaid-i-Azam University – Ranked =137 (Top in Pakistan) 

• National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) – Ranked 145 

• COMSATS University Islamabad – Ranked 187 

• Government College University Faisalabad, Sukkur IBA University, and UET Taxila – All in the 201–250 range 

Rankings by Categories 

Pakistani universities were categorized in the following rank bands: 

• Top 200: 3 universities 

• 201–300: 11 universities 

• 301–400: 14 universities 

• 401–500: 13 universities 

• 501–600: 5 universities 

• 601+: 6 universities
