The Punjab government has announced a major initiative aimed at opening overseas employment opportunities for the province’s youth. Instead of relying only on private recruiters or middlemen, the government has decided to establish direct contact with foreign embassies and missions to secure jobs for Pakistani workers.
The task has been given to the Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Department (SDED), which will now act as a bridge between Pakistani talent and international employers. The department will explore opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, construction, and industry, areas where Pakistani workers are already in demand.
This step is being described as a more transparent and reliable way of connecting local workers with international markets. It will not only help reduce exploitation by private agents but also ensure that young people are sent abroad through official channels with proper safeguards.
Early Openings on the Horizon
As part of this new strategy, Belarus has already offered jobs for Pakistani workers in multiple fields. Officials believe that more countries will follow once the program receives formal approval from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior.
The move comes at a time when the global economy is shifting rapidly, and countries are competing to send their skilled manpower abroad. For Pakistan, it will bring various advantages:
• Stronger Remittances: Workers abroad will send back valuable foreign exchange, and this will lead to the strengthening of economy.
• Youth Empowerment: Young people will be capable of getting dignified jobs, supporting their families and reducing unemployment at home.

A Step Toward Dignified Futures
The Punjab government has highlighted that providing respectable livelihoods to its youth is considered to be the top priority. By adopting this proactive approach, it hopes to not only to reduce unemployment pressure but also prepare its workforce to become global ambassadors of Pakistan’s talent and determination.
