The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has set its sights on the biggest goal: training 45,000 engineers in Artificial Intelligence (AI) over the next three years. This initiative isn’t just about learning technology for its own sake—it’s about preparing Pakistan’s engineering community to lead in the digital age, drive innovation at home, and compete globally.

Celebrating a Milestone in AI Education

This vision was front and center at the ceremony marking the completion of PEC’s second Generative AI course cohort, held at PEC Headquarters in Islamabad. Engineers from all corners of the country joined online, a testament to the nationwide appetite for AI skills.

Chairman Engr. Waseem Nazir delivered an inspiring message. He kept on explaining that the future belongs to those who embrace change and technology. “We want every engineer in Pakistan to be ready for the AI revolution,” he said. “This is about building capacity, confidence, and a culture of innovation.”

Making AI Learning Accessible

The free, 6-week online course drew over 4,000 registered engineers, faculty members, students, and industry professionals. Of those, 1,180 met all requirements and proudly received internationally certified digital certificates with QR codes for easy verification.

The program is also focusing on real-world application. Participants explored some of the core topics in Generative AI, such as text generation, image synthesis, learning how to use these tools to solve complex engineering problems.

At the ceremony, PEC honored the top 10 engineers and three standout teams for their innovative project work—proof of the talent and potential within Pakistan’s engineering community.

A Global Collaboration

This initiative was powered by partnerships with Pak Angels Silicon Valley USA, Aspire Pakistan, and iCodeGuru. These organizations brought world-class expertise to the curriculum and connected participants to global best practices.

Hassan Syed, Chairperson of Aspire Pakistan, and M. Anwar Khan, Founder of Pak Angels, both spoke about the importance of turning learning into action. “Training is only the first step,” they reminded attendees. “We must focus on commercializing these skills to develop market-ready solutions, grow our economy, and attract investment from around the world.”

Building Pakistan’s Digital Future

PEC leadership, senior officials, and international partners who joined virtually were all there in the ceremony, all united around a shared goal: equipping Pakistan’s engineers with the skills to lead in an AI-powered world.

As PEC moves forward with its plan to train 45,000 engineers, it’s clear this is not just an education project—it’s a transformative mission

  • To empower people
  • Strengthen the economy
  • Secure Pakistan’s place in the global technology landscape
