Pakistan’s youth have once again brought pride to the nation by demonstrating their abilities and spirit on an international platform. At the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2025, which was held in Bolivia from July 27 to August 3, a four-member Pakistani team and an outstanding performance was displayed by them, securing four bronze medals for the country.

As per a declaration by the FBISE, the medal-winning team included Muhammad Aneeq, Ghulam Junaid, Muhammad Saram, and Ahmed Imran Malik. Their extraordinary achievement has made this year’s participation one of Pakistan’s best showings at the prestigious global competition.

A Leap Forward on the Global Stage

The IOI saw participation from 86 countries, bringing together some of the brightest young minds in programming and computer science. Pakistan’s team secured the 32nd position, and it has left behind various technologically advanced nations such as Germany, Austria, Turkey, France, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, Finland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Saudi Arabia.

This is assumed to be the most impressive success, and which is the major improvement from last year, when Pakistan managed only two bronze medals and ranked 46th.

Behind the Success: Merit and Dedication

FBISE attributed this success to a transparent and merit-based selection process. Out of an initial pool of 528 students, two tough rounds of testing were conducted in 12 centers across the country. From there, only 25 were shortlisted for the second round, and ultimately, the top four were selected to represent Pakistan.

The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training had entrusted FBISE with overseeing Pakistan’s participation. To ensure inclusivity, official notifications were sent to all education boards, including Cambridge-affiliated institutions, via the Inter Boards Coordination Committee (IBCC).

A Moment of National Pride

This achievement is not just a medal count; it is a huge reflection of Pakistan’s rising potential in technology and innovation. These young minds are paving the way for Pakistan to emerge as a strong global player in the fields of programming and computer science with the help of proper guidance and hard work.

As the four medalists return home, they bring not only medals but also hope, inspiration and renewed sense of possibility for Pakistan’s future.
