Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan visited the Islamabad-Murree Expressway on Tuesday to review ongoing beautification, rehabilitation, and improvement work.
During his visit, he inspected rest areas and gave instructions to improve facilities for commuters and tourists. He also asked the Secretary Communications to personally oversee the work and ensure top quality, stressing that remaining tasks should be completed quickly and all pending issues resolved.
Officials from the National Highway Authority said that new lighting has been installed and beautification work on both sides of the expressway is almost finished.
PM to Inaugurate Islamabad-Murree Expressway Soon
Pakistan is set to hit another major milestone in its road infrastructure as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is anticipated to inaugurate the newly upgraded Islamabad-Murree Expressway in the coming days.
The expressway is one of the major routes that connects the federal capital with the scenic hill station of Murree. Now it has been transformed into a modern highway meeting international safety and design standards.

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has scrutinized the ongoing work and expressed complete satisfaction with the progress of the project. He confirmed that the construction and upgradation of the project is going through the final phase, and it will be ready for official opening soon.

The Islamabad-Murree Expressway is considered to be one of the busiest tourist routes in Pakistan, and millions of visitors travel a 90 KM distance between Islamabad to Murree via the Expressway annually to reach Murree and nearby hill stations. To ensure safety and comfort, the road has been significantly upgraded with advanced infrastructure and support systems.
According to Aleem Khan, the expressway now features modern traffic management systems, wider lanes, and improved road quality. The deployment of motorway police along the route has already begun, ensuring better enforcement of traffic rules and quick assistance for travelers in case of emergencies.
