The federal capital is preparing to take a major leap in its emergency services by introducing rescue drones and modern equipment as part of an ambitious plan to upgrade its disaster response system.

The initiative was discussed in detail during a high-level meeting on Capital Emergency Services held at the CDA Headquarters on Friday. The session was chaired by CDA Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, who emphasized the need to align the city’s emergency response with global best practices.

A Modern Emergency Response System

Officials briefed the meeting that the new system will feature rescue drones, motorbikes and specialized vehicles that are manufactured to cut down response times and improve access to hard-to-reach areas.

The drones will be used not only for quick surveillance during accidents or natural disasters but also for delivering critical supplies in situations where ground access is difficult.

Alongside these measures, the city will also establish a modern Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The EOC will serve as the central command hub, monitoring incidents in real-time and coordinating a faster, more organized response across different emergency departments. Authorities confirmed that a suitable site for the center has already been identified.

Tackling Forest Fires with Technology

The meeting also highlighted Islamabad’s growing vulnerability to forest fires, particularly during the dry summer months. To address this, the plan includes installing watchtowers, using state-of-the-art drone surveillance systems to detect fire outbreaks at an early stage.

Officials kept on saying that this will allow rescue teams to mobilize quickly before fires spread out of control.

Partnership with NDMA

The CDA is working in close consultation with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for technical expertise and the provision of advanced equipment. This collaboration is anticipated to escort in international-standard practices to Islamabad’s disaster management framework.

With these steps, the federal capital is heading towards transforming its emergency services. It is stated that digitally equipped, technology-driven system are capable of saving more lives and minimizing damage during crises.
