Karachi, Pakistan’s largest metropolis, gets a major boost in its road infrastructure with multiple new bridges and flyovers starting to take shape. The construction of Rs 1.82 billion flyover on Khalid bin Waleed Road in Malir, which was inaugurated by Mayor Murtaza Wahab in September last year has finally been completed.

Karachi’s infrastructure drive gained fresh momentum as Syed Murad Ali Shah, the Chief Minister of Sindh, inaugurated the Bhains Colony Flyover, also famous as the Khalid Bin Waleed Flyover in Malir. The project is meant to ease traffic blockage and also improve connectivity in the city’s eastern corridors. The flagship project will be linking the National Highway with Mehran Highway.

The newly opened flyover directly addresses long-standing traffic bottlenecks in Bhains Colony and the surrounding areas of District Malir. It also removes a dangerous railway crossing that frequently caused accidents and delays. As a result, daily commuters now enjoy smoother and safer travel.

Bhains Colony Flyover Brings Relief to Malir and Industrial Zones

The Bhains Colony Flyover connects key routes between the National Highway (N-5) and the Mehran Highway. This link improves access for residents of Malir and Ibrahim Hyderi. Furthermore, it supports workers and businesses operating in the Export Processing Zone, where uninterrupted traffic flow plays a vital role in productivity.

As per officials, the flyover will significantly

  1. Cut travel time
  2. Fuel costs

It is also strengthening Karachi’s role as an industrial and commercial hub.
