University of Tokyo offers fully funded ADB scholarships for Pakistani students

If you are a Pakistani student and dreaming of studying abroad, a major opportunity has opened up for you must urgently apply for it: the University of Tokyo ADB Scholarship 2026, a prestigious and fully funded master’s program supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The scholarship takes care of everything — tuition fees, airfare, a monthly living allowance, health insurance, and even funding for a research thesis. 

This program is created for students from ADB’s borrowing member countries, and Pakistan is proudly on that list. 

Successful applicants can avail the chance of studying at the highly regarded University of Tokyo, consistently ranked among the top universities in the world. 

Who Can Apply? 

To be eligible for the ADB–Japan Scholarship Program (ADB–JSP), candidates must: 

• Be a citizen of an ADB borrowing member country (including Pakistan). 

• Hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution. 

• Have a minimum of two years of full-time work experience in a relevant field. 

• Be under 35 years old at the time of application. 

• Commit to returning and working in their home country for at least two years after completing the degree. 

• Not already hold a master’s degree. 

• Students interested in securing a PhD degree later may consider the MEXT Scholarship instead.

Documents Needed 

Applicants must prepare the following: 

• GSFS Application Form 

• Field of Study and Research Plan 

• Academic Transcript (official or attested copy) 

• Degree Certificate (official or attested copy) 

• Two Recommendation Letters 

Referees must email these directly using the subject line: 

“ADB recommendation letter_Applicant Name” 

All documents (except recommendations) must be uploaded through the official Google Form by December 10, 2025. 

Application Process 

1. Find a Supervisor 

Applicants must reach out to a potential supervisor in the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences (GSFS) or a related department. 

Up to five supervisors may be listed in the application. 

2. Submit Documents through the Google Form by the deadline. 

3. Recommendation Letters must be emailed directly by referees to the International Liaison Office. 

Selection Timeline 

Initial Screening: Mid-February 2026 

Submit Original Documents: March 20, 2026 

Final Selection: May 2026 

Classes Begin: October 1, 2026
