Pakistan’s mobile phone industry has seen a remarkable transformation in recent years, moving from heavy dependence on imports to a growing culture of local manufacturing and assembly.

According to the latest figures released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the trend continued strongly in July 2025, with locally assembled smartphones and feature phones recording impressive volumes.

A report by Topline Research highlights the Top 10 brands being assembled in Pakistan, reflecting both consumer demand and the increasing capability of local manufacturing plants.

A Growing Industry Backed by Policy Shifts

Industry experts keep on crediting this momentum to the government supportive policies, which encouraged local assembly through incentives, reduced reliance on imports, and provided job opportunities to thousands of workers in the sector.

Just a few years ago, Pakistan was overwhelmingly reliant on imported devices. Today, the majority of phones being sold in the country are either manufactured or assembled domestically.

The growth is also linked to rising smartphone penetration in Pakistan. As most of the masses gaining access to affordable internet, demand for feature-rich yet budget-friendly smartphones has soared. Local assembly has allowed global brands to price their products more competitively, making them accessible to a larger population.

Outlook for the Coming Months

Looking ahead, mobile phone sales in Pakistan are projected to grow by 7–8% over the next 12 months. Analysts say that with inflation cooling down and the base effect normalizing, demand is stabilizing and even showing signs of expansion.

Another boost is anticipated from new smartphone launches, as brands such as Samsung, Xiaomi and Vivo typically reveal updated models around September each year.

For consumers, this actually indicates the greater variety, better prices and faster access to the latest technology.

It is strongly depicting a positive shift toward self-reliance and industrial growth, as local assembly not only minimizes import bills but also nurtures a skilled workforce.

As the data indicates, the story of Pakistan’s mobile industry is no longer just about usage—it is about making and assembling phones locally, a trend that seems to grow stronger in the upcoming future.
