Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi has announced a reward of Rs 50 million in a grand tribute to Pakistani pilots who played a prominent role in Pakistan’s successful air defense and counterattack against India. The announcement came at the event of Thanksgiving Day and is defined as a manifestation of the countrywide team spirit.
Peshawar Zalmi Chairman Javed Afridi informed Arab News that ‘the unwavering bravery, dedication, and sacrifice of Pakistani pilots are our national pride. Nowadays, we aren’t content with just verbal words of reward but also recognize their spirit in practic’e.
The gesture comes at a tense time for the country, not just in terms of countrywide security, but also for its flagship T20 competition, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, which has been suspended indefinitely after drone interest close to Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and other security issues prompted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to halt proceedings.

“Their unwavering courage, dedication, and sacrifice are the heartbeat of our national pride,” Afridi stated in a press launch. “Today, we honor them not just with words, but through meaningful action,” Peshawar Zalmi’s announcement read.
Afridi’s announcement follows days of tension, along with airspace closures and missile alerts across essential Pakistani cities. PSL matches were postponed, foreign players started exiting the country, and the PCB eventually suspended the remainder of the event.
But while cricket takes a backseat, Afridi’s tribute is visible as a timely reminder of the larger picture. His Zalmi Foundation, which has long been involved in social improvement, has redirected its attention toward countrywide safety personnel, offering not just words of support but tangible financial recognition for their role in keeping the country secure.
“This contribution is greater than a gesture,” the statement read. “It is a powerful image of national solidarity and deep appreciation for the heroes who shield our skies with unshakable resolve.”
Afridi, a key figure in PSL and Peshawar Zalmi’s increase and one of the league’s most vocal proponents, has remained supportive of the PCB’s decisions, urging fans and players alike to stay united during this challenging time.
As Peshawar Zalmi, similar to other franchises, eagerly anticipates updates on the resumption of PSL 10, attention has momentarily transitioned from the sport to the country. Afridi, as always, has ensured his team continues to fulfill its responsibilities.
