Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the upgraded Pak Business Express, and they called it a huge step in building confidence of the masses in Pakistan Railways, which has long struggled with mismanagement and declining passenger trust.
The ceremony, held at the newly renovated Lahore Railway Station, showcased modern facilities and highlighted the government’s broader commitment to revamping state institutions. The Prime Minister toured the upgraded coaches and station lounges, describing the transformation as a step toward “a modern Pakistan.”
Modern Features for Passengers
The Pak Business Express will operate between Lahore and Karachi, and it will complete the journey in 18.5 hours. It has been equipped with air-conditioned coaches, digital ticketing and modern lounges that provide comfort comparable to international standards.
Business-class passengers will enjoy European-style amenities, designed to bring a new level of convenience and efficiency to long-distance travel in Pakistan.
Government’s Vision for Railways
Shehbaz Sharif has shown massive admiration for Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi for reviving what he described as a “collapsed system” and turning it into a functioning, people-oriented service.
He also acknowledged the efforts of Khawaja Saad Rafique, who during the previous PDM government played a major role in recovering railway land and upgrading stations across the country.

The PM emphasized that this initiative is assumed to be the part of a wider strategy to reform state institutions and strengthen national infrastructure. Touching on the economy, Shehbaz Sharif claimed that inflation had dropped by 5 percent, adding that current indicators pointed to signs of recovery. “We are heading in the right direction,” sharif claimed.
