The Punjab government has given the green light to a feasibility study for a new theme park in Lahore, marking a step forward in the province’s efforts to promote tourism and recreation.
With an allocated cost of Rs 200 million, the project aims to introduce world-class leisure facilities in the provincial capital, providing families and young masses with new entertainment opportunities.
Decision Made at PDWP Meeting
The approval appeared during a meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) held on Friday under the chairmanship of Dr. Naeem Rauf, Chairman of the Planning & Development Board. During the session, the PDWP sanctioned seven major projects across
- Tourism
- Information technology
- Infrastructure
- Minority development
Collectively, these initiatives carry a combined value of Rs 5.118 billion, underscoring the government’s development-oriented agenda.
Tourism Projects to Transform Murree and Mianwali
Tourism was the main point which was discussed in the meeting. In addition to Lahore’s theme park, several feasibility studies were approved to enhance tourist attractions in northern Punjab.
These include a Sky Walk Glass Bridge in Murree worth Rs 72.152 million, a Chairlift and Cable Car project from Lakot to Pindi Point, Murree estimated at Rs 90 million, and a Cable Car at River Indus, Kala Bagh, Mianwali valued at Rs 81.571 million.

These projects are expected to add new dimensions to Pakistan’s domestic tourism by improving accessibility and offering unique experiences.
Other Development Initiatives
Beyond tourism, infrastructure and social welfare were also prioritized. The PDWP ratified the construction of a road from Danda Shah Bilawal to Ghool through Lawa in District Chakwal, carrying a budget of Rs 1.374 billion.
Additionally, the Chief Minister’s Minority Development Programme was allocated Rs 1 billion to support minority communities, while the Accelerate Punjab Startups Tech Programme received Rs 2.3 billion, reflecting the province’s commitment to nurturing entrepreneurship and innovation.
The meeting was attended by senior government representatives, including Secretary P&D Board Rafaqat Ali, Secretary Tourism Raja Jahangir, Secretary Minorities Affairs Farid Ahmad, Chief Economist Masood Anwar, and other members of the Planning & Development Board.
