Acquiring a passport in Punjab is set to become simpler. To minimize long lines and waiting times, the Directorate General of Passports has created four new sub-zones throughout the province, a decision that guarantees quicker and more accessible services for the public.
Increased Access, Reduced Travel
Declaring the progress, DG Passports Mustafa Jamal Qazi stated that two additional sub-zones — RPO Lahore and RPO Gujranwala — will now assist the people in Central Punjab. In South Punjab, RPO Multan and RPO Bahawalpur have been established, an area where locals frequently faced long travels for even basic passport-related activities.
Applicants will no longer need to wait several weeks or travel extra miles simply to renew or retrieve their passports.
Reducing Delays, Establishing Trust
Qazi clarified that the aim of the initiative is straightforward: to improve the process to be quicker, more seamless, and dependable. Throughout the years, masses have often voiced concerns regarding crowded offices and sluggish processing. By distributing the workload among additional zones, the department intends to provide services with respect and effectiveness.

“Every resource is being employed to guarantee timely passport issuance,” Qazi stated, noting that this measure would enhance internal management and improve operational efficiency.
A Move Towards Governance That Benefits Citizens
The advantages are anticipated to extend to not just residents of Punjab but also Pakistanis overseas, as enhanced systems domestically facilitate improved service provision at embassies and missions. For numerous families, particularly in South Punjab, this translates to conserving both time and money — a much-needed respite for those who once had to undertake multiple visits to far-off offices.
By setting up these four new sub-zones, the government is signaling a clear shift toward citizen-centered governance. For the people of Punjab, the change may finally turn the passport office experience from a frustrating ordeal into a smoother, quicker process.
The success of these new zones will ultimately be measured by how quickly and smoothly citizens begin to feel the difference in their everyday lives.
