Murree, Pakistan’s beloved hill station, is all ready to welcome a wave of new tourism initiatives which are meant to restore its old charm while introducing modern attractions. In line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has started fast-tracking several projects to enhance the visitor experience.

As a first step, PTDC Managing Director Asim Raza inaugurated an electric cart “City Tour” service at Kashmir Point. The service is offering tourists an eco-friendly and convenient way to explore the scenic beauty of Murree without adding to traffic blockage or pollution. Families, elderly visitors, and children are expected to particularly benefit from this sustainable transport option.

Upcoming Tourism Projects

But the electric cart service is just the beginning. Several other projects are in the pipeline, including:

• A glass bridge offering breathtaking panoramic views.

• A camping pods village for nature enthusiasts.

• A new tourist resort and theme park to attract families.

• A paragliding club to promote adventure tourism.

• New chairlifts to expand recreational opportunities.

Together, these projects aim to transform Murree into a year-round destination with options for leisure, adventure, and family-friendly fun.

Restoring Mall Road’s Historic Charm

One of the major components of this revival drive is the restoration of iconic Mall Road of Murree, which has been a cultural and commercial hub for over 160 years. The Rs550 million restoration scheme, to be carried out by the Walled City Authority Lahore, will revive the road’s historic architecture while upgrading facilities for modern tourists.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz kept on emphasizing that the work would be completed within a year and that quality would not be compromised. “The historic beauty of Murree will be restored,” she said, reaffirming her commitment to developing Murree into a world-class tourist destination.

With eco-friendly services, modern attractions, and heritage restoration, Murree is all ready to re-emerge not just as Pakistan’s most visited hill station but also as a potential global tourism hub. These efforts reflect a broader vision to make Punjab’s tourism both sustainable and internationally competitive.
