95-km Multan-Vehari highway, costing Rs 25 billion, making rapid progress

A major infrastructure milestone is going to be accomplished in South Punjab as the dualization of the 95-kilometer Vehari–Multan Road continues at full pace.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz declared that the total investment for the project is nearly Rs 25 billion. She said that it is advancing rapidly and promises to change connectivity in the region. 

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Maryam Nawaz kept on explaining that the road as a “vital arterial route,” highlighting its strategic role in linking Vehari to the M-4 Motorway.

Once completed, the upgraded highway is anticipated to accommodate more than 24,000 vehicles per day, a development that officials claim will ease congestion, shorten travel times, and enhance road safety. 

Boost for Regional Connectivity 

The dualization project is meant to resolve the challenges which are encountered by commuters and transporters in South Punjab. The single-lane stretch has long been plagued by traffic jams and frequent accidents. 

With the incorporation of dual carriageways, the route will permit  

  • Smoother traffic flow 
  • Reduce delays 
  • Improve overall road safety

Economic and Social Impact 

Officials note that the road is not just a transportation upgrade but also considered to be the catalyst for economic activity. By providing faster access to the motorway network, it is anticipated to

Farmers and traders from Vehari and adjoining areas will get benefits from quicker routes to markets, while businesses will gain easier access to supply chains and logistics hubs.

Maryam Nawaz kept on focusing that the project depicts her government’s determination to bring balanced development to Punjab, especially to historically underserved regions. She noted that improved road infrastructure directly translates into

As the construction process is going on very quickly, authorities are showing positivity that the road will be completed within the planned timeline. For the travelers and the residents, the Vehari–Multan dualization project is being considered as the most wanted step toward modern, efficient, and safe mobility in South Punjab.
