MG’s all-new compact SUV ES5 EV revealed at 2025 Shanghai Auto Show launching soon

The brand-new MG ES5 EV, a small SUV shown at the Shanghai Auto Show 2025, is the next electric car headed to Pakistan. The ES5 will join MG Pakistan’s expanding electric lineup, providing a cutting-edge substitute for conventional SUVs that run on petrol.

The MG ES5 is intended to be the MG ZS EV’s next-generation substitute in international markets, such as those in Europe, the UK, and Australia. The ES5, which has a wider wheelbase, a more modern appearance, and more sophisticated technology, is built on the same Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) as the MG4 hatchback.

The MG ES5 is a unique electric SUV because of its abundance of amazing features.

• Design and Dimensions:

• Modern style: Y-shaped through-type lighting, sharp headlights, and closed-face design.
• Dimensions: Length: 4476 mm, Width: 1849 mm, Height: 1621 mm, Wheelbase: 2730 mm.
• Interior Space: Spacious interior with a maximum usable area of 4.24 square meters and a panoramic sunroof.

• Performance and Range:

• Power Output: Rear electric motor delivering 125 kW (168 hp) and 250 Nm of torque.
• Acceleration: 0-100 km/h in 8 seconds, top speed of 170 km/h.
• Battery Options: Lithium-ion phosphate battery pack available in 49.1 kWh and 62.2 kWh capacities.
• Range: 425 km to 525 km depending on the battery option.

• Modern Design: Minimalist interior with a central control screen layout, instrument panel, and flat-bottom steering wheel.

• Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS): Adaptive cruise control (ACC) and lane-keeping assist (LKA) on higher trims.

• Price Range: Expected to be between 100,000 and 150,000 yuan (approximately 14,100 to 21,200 USD).
• Launch: Anticipated to launch in China later this year with potential for global export.

The MG ES5 will face competition from other small electric SUVs, such the Peugeot E-2008 and Kia EV4. If priced competitively, its attractive appearance, roomy cabin, and competitive range might make it a formidable competitor in Pakistan’s developing EV market.
