Pakistan has taken an important step toward modernizing higher education as the country partners with Meta to roll out an AI program for teachers’ training. The initiative has been launched by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in collaboration with American tech giant Meta and local ed-tech platform Atomcamp.

The program aims to equip university teachers with practical skills in artificial intelligence, data science, and analytics, helping them keep pace with fast-changing global education standards.

So far, around 300 HEC-affiliated faculty members from universities across Pakistan have completed training under the program. Atomcamp led the sessions, offering hands-on learning in AI tools and modern teaching methods.

According to state media, the training focuses on improving professional skills while laying the foundation for the wider use of AI in higher education. Faculty members are learning how to apply AI in classrooms, research, and academic planning.

An official statement noted that HEC provided institutional support, while Atomcamp delivered advanced AI training to educators nationwide.

Strengthening Pakistan’s Education System Through AI Program for Teachers’ Training

Pakistan has been steadily adopting artificial intelligence in multiple sectors such as,

  1. Education
  2. Healthcare
  3. Finance
  4. e-commerce

Startups are developing AI-based solutions, while policymakers are working to integrate AI into public services and digital infrastructure.

This collaboration highlights the government’s intention to ensure that Pakistani universities remain competitive at the global level. Officials say more AI and emerging technology programs will be introduced in the future to further strengthen higher education.

Aligned with National AI Policy

The initiative also supports Pakistan’s National Artificial Intelligence Policy, launched in August last year. The policy goals are to:

•          Build national AI infrastructure

•          Train one million people in AI-related skills

•          Promote responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence

The policy rests on six key pillars, including AI innovation, public awareness, secure systems, sectoral transformation, infrastructure development, and international partnerships.

Looking Ahead

By partnering with Meta to roll out an AI program for teachers’ training, Pakistan is investing directly in its educators — the backbone of the education system. Officials believe that empowering teachers with AI knowledge will ultimately benefit students, research, and the country’s digital future.

This initiative is marking another step toward making Pakistan a technology-ready and innovation-driven nation.
