Islamabad is all ready to take a green step forward with the launch of its first-ever weekly organic market, an initiative of the Capital Development Authority in collaboration with the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI).
The market is going to be held in Sector F-7/3, providing residents a dedicated space to buy fresh, chemical-free, and locally sourced produce.
As per CDA officials, the initiative is designed to enhance healthy lifestyles by making organically grown
- Fruits
- Vegetables
- Honey
- Olives
- Natural products easily accessible to the public
The market will be overseen by the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA), which has already started inviting applications from growers and sellers interested in participating. The last date for submission of applications is September 12, 2025.

Officials kept on discussing that the organic market will provide benefits to the consumers and provide a direct platform for local farmers and small-scale producers.
Traditionally, middlemen dominate the agricultural supply chain, often reducing farmers’ profits while inflating prices for consumers. By connecting growers directly with buyers, the organic market aims to ensure fair pricing, transparency, and trust.
For the masses living in the federal capital, the move comes as a welcome development at a time when awareness of healthy diets and organic living is growing rapidly. Rising concerns over food quality and the overuse of pesticides and fertilizers have fueled demand for organic alternatives, specifically among urban families.
The CDA believes this step will play a pivotal role in catalyzing community-level trade, foster sustainable agriculture and create new opportunities for cottage industries that specialize in organic products.
Honey producers, olive growers, and small organic farms in and around Islamabad are expected to be among the early participants.
An official involved in the project commented, “This is all about lacing the masses with healthier choices along with empowering our local growers. It will be a win-win for everyone involved.”
If this project gets success, then the CDA will make decision to expand the initiative to other sectors of the city, creating a network of weekly organic markets that could eventually transform how food is consumed in Islamabad.
With this first step in F-7/3, the capital is taking a meaningful stride toward sustainable urban living.
