In a move to uplift the horticultural beauty and green infrastructure of the capital, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has begun work on converting its old nursery on Park Road into an innovative and aesthetically appealing ‘Gardenia Hub’.
A Vision for a Greener Capital
During a recent visit to the site, Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa along with some senior officials from the environment, engineering, finance, and administrative wings, analyzed ongoing progress at the nursery. The chairman emphasized that this project is visualized as the biggest component of a broader vision to make Islamabad a leading hub for horticulture and urban greenery.
“Our goal is not just to beautify the city, but also to support research, innovation, and employment in the horticulture sector,” Mr. Randhawa stated.

What Will the ‘Gardenia Hub’ Feature?
The Gardenia Hub will offer a range of modern and vibrant features aimed at enhancing both the city’s beauty and public engagement:

- State-of-the-art ventilated greenhouses that will create an optimal environment for growing a variety of plants
- A tissue culture laboratory for advanced plant propagation and innovation
- A colorful flower exhibition area to showcase seasonal and exotic floral species

“This hub won’t just be a feast for the eyes and it will also become a recreational destination for residents,” said Mr. Randhawa. He added that the project would create new employment opportunities in gardening, landscaping, research, and plant nursery management.
