The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has finalized the feasibility study for Islamabad’s first modern slaughterhouse, marking a major step toward strengthening the city’s food infrastructure and boosting Pakistan’s meat export potential.

The project, which will be developed under a Joint Venture (JV) model, aims to modernize livestock processing facilities, ensure hygienic meat supply to the capital, and open new opportunities for foreign investment.

The announcement came during a meeting between CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa and a delegation from Saudi-based company GO ARAMCO at CDA Headquarters. Senior officials including Member Planning and Design Dr. Khalid Hafiz, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, and Deputy Director General (Resource) were also in attendance.

Public–Private Partnership for Growth

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Randhawa said the project’s JV model is part of CDA’s broader plan to promote sustainable public–private partnerships and attract international investors to Islamabad’s growing development landscape.

He emphasized that all CDA-led projects are being executed strictly in line with Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules, ensuring merit, transparency, and accountability.

“This initiative is not just about building infrastructure—it’s about creating systems that are meant to deliver long-term economic value and generate new employment opportunities,” Randhawa noted.

Saudi Collaboration and Investment Opportunities

During the meeting, the GO ARAMCO delegation was given a briefing on various ongoing and upcoming CDA initiatives. Multiple potential investment sites have been selected, including

  • fuel stations
  • urban infrastructure
  • resource development projects in Islamabad

Both sides agreed to form joint working teams to accelerate collaboration, planning, and explore areas of mutual cooperation.

A Right Step Toward Modernization

Randhawa reaffirmed CDA’s commitment to enhancing Islamabad’s infrastructure and facilities via innovation and global collaboration. He claimed that the partnerships with experienced international firms like GO ARAMCO would help fast-track the city’s transformation and make it a model of modern urban development in Pakistan.
