Pakistan’s auto sector continued its recovery momentum in September 2025, with car sales climbing 67% year-on-year and 22% month-on-month to reach 17,174 units, according to PAMA data compiled by Topline Research.

Industry experts credit the sharp rise to a combination of factors — lower interest rates, easing inflation, and overall economic stability. As consumer confidence improves, demand across different vehicle segments has picked up noticeably. In the broader picture, car sales in 1QFY26 have jumped up to 42,267 units, marking a 53 percent increase from 27,585 units in the same quarter last year.

Honda and Suzuki Dominate Passenger Car Market

Honda Atlas Cars (HCAR) posted the strongest recovery. Its sales surged 82% YoY and more than doubled MoM to 2,307 units in September. The combined sales of the Civic and City models jumped 73% YoY and nearly tripled MoM to 1,977 units. Sales of the BR-V and HR-V rose 2.6x YoY, although they dipped 12% MoM to 330 units.

Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) was close behind with an impressive 79% YoY and 26% MoM increase, totaling 8,997 units. The popular Alto led the charge, growing 50% YoY and 13% MoM. The Cultus, Swift, and Ravi also posted extraordinary gains of 7.3x, 2.3x, and 4.3x YoY, respectively.

Sazgar Engineering (SAZEW) reported a 73% YoY and 36% MoM boost to 1,429 units, driven largely by the new Haval H6 PHEV. Hyundai Nishat grew 56% YoY but slipped 3% MoM to 1,175 units, while Indus Motor Company (Toyota) recorded 33% YoY growth but a 7% MoM decline, closing at 3,152 units.

Bikes, Heavy Vehicles Up — Tractors Lag

Motorbike and rickshaw sales displayed consistent strength, rising 21% YoY and 7% MoM to 158,941 units in September. For 1QFY26, sales reached 432,000 units, up 35% YoY. Atlas Honda recorded its highest-ever monthly sales, delivering 136,000 units, led by its CD70 and other commuter bikes.

The only sector which is encountering massive setbacks is tractors. Sales dropped 27% YoY and 21% MoM to 790 units due to flood impacts and weak rural purchasing power. However, production of over 2,000 units hints at future recovery under government subsidy programs.

In contrast, the heavy vehicle segment surged. Sales of buses and trucks have jumped to 2.6 times YoY and 24% MoM to reach 824 units, marking the highest monthly figure in nearly 7.5 years. For the quarter, heavy vehicle sales totaled 1,864 units, up from 926 units a year earlier — a sign that logistics and infrastructure activity is picking up pace.
