Good news for Pakistanis planning to visit, study, or work in Australia: the visa process has become more convenient with the rollout of the Australian Immi App in Pakistan. Eligible applicants can now submit their passport details and facial biometrics directly from their smartphones, cutting out the problem of travelling to biometric centres and waiting in long queues.

What Is the Australian Immi App?

The Australian Immi App is a free official app by Australia’s Department of Home Affairs. It allows eligible visa applicants to:

• Upload passport details

• Submit facial biometrics (face photo)

• Complete part of their visa requirements securely and digitally

The app has already been in use across the Pacific and Asia since 2024 and has helped thousands of applicants’ complete procedures faster and more efficiently.

Who Is Eligible to Use the App?

Not everyone can use the app immediately — there are specific conditions:

• You must have previously provided biometrics (facial image and fingerprints) to Australia’s Department of Home Affairs.

• You must have a valid passport.

If you meet these criteria, you no longer need to physically visit a biometric collection centre in Pakistan for facial biometrics. Instead, you can do it from home by making use of your phone.

What Does This Mean for Pakistani Applicants?

Australian High Commissioner Timothy Kane called this rollout a “major step forward” in making the visa process easier and more accessible for people in Pakistan.

For students, skilled workers, tourists, and families, this means:

• Lower travel costs – no need to visit a biometric centre in another city

• Less stress and time wasted – fewer appointments and long waits

• Faster processing – smoother submission of required information

In a country where many applicants live far from major cities, this digital option can be a big relief, especially for students and professionals on tight schedules.

Part of a Global Digital Transformation

The app is now available in 34 countries, including regions in the Middle East, North Africa, Latin America, and Europe. It is part of Australia’s wider effort to modernise visa services and make travel procedures more user-friendly.

The Department of Home Affairs plans to complete the global rollout of the app across all remaining countries in its Biometric Collection Program by early 2026.
