ATMs to be installed on all airports of Pakistan

Traveling through Pakistani airports is about to get more convenient. In a long-awaited move, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has decided to install Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) at airports across the country, addressing a common complaint from passengers who often struggle to access cash during travel.

Major Banks Invited for Installation

To make this initiative a reality, the PAA has invited a number of commercial banks to set up ATMs inside airport terminals. Major international and domestic airports such as Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore—are on the priority list, making certain that travelers can easily withdraw money, access currency services, and manage basic banking needs without leaving the premises.

Regional Airports Also Included

What sets this initiative apart is that it isn’t limited to big cities. Airports in Peshawar, Quetta, Sukkur, Gwadar, Skardu, and Gilgit are also included in the rollout plan. For travelers flying to or from the northern regions and remote areas, these ATM installations will be especially helpful, given the limited access to banking services in those locations.

Better Travel Experience for All Passengers

The availability of ATMs will serve:

• International travelers, who often need quick currency access during transit

• Domestic passengers, who may require cash for transportation, accommodation, or emergencies

• Airport staff and visitors, who will get benefit from the added convenience inside terminals

Previously, many passengers had to rely on external ATMs or carry extra cash, which was both inconvenient and risky.

Part of a Larger Modernization Effort

This development comes on the heels of other airport upgrades initiated by the PAA. In recent months, the authority introduced biometric e-gates at various major airports to modernize the check-in and immigration process.

These efforts are showing strong alignment with Pakistan’s broader push toward digital transformation and improved travel infrastructure.

A Step Toward Passenger-Friendly Airports

With ATM services being rolled out nationwide, officials keep on believing that the overall passenger experience will improve significantly. Travelers will soon be able to withdraw cash, make balance inquiries and perform other basic banking tasks without facing any problem—right inside the terminals.

If implemented efficiently, the initiative could set a new standard for customer service at airports and bring Pakistan closer to international aviation facility benchmarks.
