Pakistan gives Rs 206 million to athletes, Arshad Nadeem gets the highest Rs 152 million

Arshad Nadeem leads cash prizes for Pakistani athletes after the federal government announced record financial rewards for outstanding sports performances during the 2024–25 fiscal year. As per the official documents presented in Parliament, a total of Rs 206.45 million has been distributed among national athletes, marking one of the largest recognition drives in Pakistan’s sports history.

The biggest share went to Olympic medalist Arshad Nadeem, who received Rs 152 million for his historic achievement on the world’s biggest sporting stage. His success not only brought pride to Pakistan but also renewed hope for the revival of athletics in the country.

Coach and Supporting Staff Also Recognized

Furthermore, Arshad Nadeem’s coach Salman Iqbal Butt also received award of Rs 10.6 million, acknowledging the critical role of coaching and mentorship behind elite athletic success. Officials kept on emphasizing that rewarding coaches holds an immense importance for building a sustainable sports ecosystem in Pakistan.

Awards Across Multiple Sports Disciplines

While Arshad Nadeem leads cash prizes for Pakistani athletes, several other sports stars also got recognition. Muhammad Asif, World Snooker Champion, received Rs 2.5 million, along with an additional Rs 500,000 for his regional achievements.

Young talents were not left behind. Ahsan Ramzan earned Rs 500,000 for winning bronze at the Asian Under-21 Snooker Championship, while Muhammad Naseem Akhtar received Rs 100,000 for a similar achievement.

Pakistani players at the South Asian Regional Table Tennis Championship collectively received Rs 1.45 million, reflecting consistent regional dominance.

Support for Inclusive and Emerging Sports

Athletes representing Pakistan at the Special Olympics World Winter Games awarded with Rs 3.05 million, highlighting growing recognition for inclusive sports.

Meanwhile, competitors in the Asian Junior Squash Championship, World Under-23 Individual Squash Championship, and Asian Open World Taekwondo Championship received combined rewards of Rs 1.75 million, Rs 7.5 million, and Rs 11.5 million, respectively.
