Advisor to the head minister for Information and Public Relations, Barrister Dr. Saif, has announced that special instructions have been given to enhance agriculture in mountainous zones to rejuvenate the farming industry in less developed areas.

In a declaration, he noted that the agriculture department has been assigned the responsibility of implementing tangible measures to improve cultivation in elevated landscapes. The directives also include the putting of clear targets for food protection, employment generation, and resource management in place.

As a part of the wider approach, the government plans to establish a Mountain Agriculture Development Board and community seed banks. Additionally, cooperative societies and different local companies in rural areas could be revived to support sustainable agricultural improvement.

Dr. Saif stated the promotion of agriculture in mountainous areas will assist in creating employment opportunities and improving livelihoods, especially in backward districts, which are a key focus of the current provincial government.

He emphasized the crucial role of agriculture in driving economic development and mentioned that the provincial government is implementing “practical and severe” actions to strengthen the sector. The adviser brought up that the KP authorities, in line with the vision of former high minister Imran Khan, are prioritizing public welfare below CM Gandapur’s leadership coverage method that is beginning to yield long-term outcomes.

“There is significant agricultural capability in KP’s mountainous areas,” Dr. Saif stated, adding that the provincial authorities are committed to unlocking this potential via focused and sustainable interventions.
